Queer Liberal Ranting from Seattle

About Me **Updated 6/23/08**

—– this page perpetually under construction —–

I’m never very good at these “tell us about yourself” pages.  A lot of what anyone might want to know about me they’re going to find in the links below that were created as part of the 100 Things About Me meme.

I’m a gay man in my late 30’s and I’m not unhappy with that fact.  My partner, Bryan, and I live in Seattle, WA and have been here since February of 1999, except for a short 18 month “adventure” in Houston, TX that we just don’t talk about.  We met when I was in college at Oregon State University and have been together since February of 1993.   Over the years we’ve lived together in Corvallis, OR, Lebanon, OR and now Seattle, WA.  We’ve been joined on this adventure by our (now deceased) dalmatian Pavlov and our aging cat Vera.  From time to time in our adventure through life we’ve also been joined by Bryan’s daughter, aka “the couch lump”.  Because of the CL we also have a new addition to the household, the ever inquisitive and energetic Miss Pickles.

I’m interested in many things and have a degree in Psychology and Sociology, so human behavior always fascinates me one way or the other.  I spend most of my free time blogging, playing Everquest II, reading books, watching movies or working on my family genealogy.  I have one maternal line back into the 1400’s so that’s always a fun challenge to find more information.  I’ve never been much for the clubs, so it’s unlikely that you would run into me out and about in Seattle.  If I did go out however, you’d most likely find me at the Eagle, CC’s or possibly the Cuff.  I consider myself a butch fag.

I enjoy getting together with friends for a sushi dinner, a backyard bbq or an evening out at a fine dining restaurant followed by a play or just a good dessert.  We belong to several wine clubs and enjoy trying new bottles of red (no whites thank you) either out to dinner or at the dining room table at home.  I enjoy playing games with friends and especially enjoy playing pinnochle or hand and foot.  You’ll usually find me in a crowd of lesbians when we’re out on the town since most of our friends are women.  Come on up and say hi!

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for adding From the Left to your blogroll. I added My 2 Cents to my blogroll.

So, you’re in Seattle? My favorite city in the USA! I would give anything to live there. It’s the cost of housing that makes buying impossible, so my partner and I live in Upstate New York instead.

    I envy you!

    Peace,

Missed the “18 months in Houston” reference on my first read through your bio. Would love for you to discuss sometime; unfortunately, it’s my hometown (and I find it the most horrid big city in America.) I only go back for funerals, and even then, it’s gotta be a good one…

Big on the genealogy here as well. Mom’s Norwegian side traced back to late 1300s; dad’s side back to England in 1500!

NW ~ don’t talk about the exile to Houston much. The only stories I might write about it aren’t pleasant memories, though a look at how “fish out of water” two NW fags felt in Houston might be interesting.
