A weekend it was…

Posted by Chris on 28 July, 2008

Another busy weekend chez moi.  Bryan’s sister arrived on the train from Albany, OR Thursday afternoon. I left work early to pick the both of them up downtown so that they didn’t have to wrangle her big ass suitcase* onto the metro bus. We headed home after a quick stop at the liquor store and just sat around bullshitting since we hadn’t seen her in several years.** After dinner and drinks we all retired early to have the energy to get through the day on Friday.

Friday found us at Beth’s bright and early getting our grub on.*** From there we hopped on the metro bus and headed downtown. J wanted to get her older son a Ride the S.L.U.T. t-shirt so we hopped off the bus, hopped on the S.L.U.T.**** and then walked to the coffee shop that sells the original t-shirts. Once the shirt was acquired we walked back to the SLUT stop and because of our collective inabilities to read a clock we thought out transfers had expired. So we walked to the Pike Place Market from the South Lake Union area, not really that far, but we were all hot and sweaty when we got to the market.  J picked up some more presents for the folks back home, the best being another t-shirt for her older son that said “I’m not a gynecologist, but I’ll take a look.”  She’s a cool mom to be getting her son that kind of stuff! We wandered around the market for a few hours and then headed back to the house. Once there we knocked back some drinks, had dinner and watched a movie, 27 Dresses. Quite the party animals we are on a Friday night as you can tell.

Saturday we headed out to Tacoma and the Museum of Glass. I really thought that it would be boring and not really worth the effort it takes to get to Tacoma, but it was actually really neat. Lots of very interesting pieces on display and information about how they make such large pieces. The best part was the hot shop where they were making pieces as you watch. I could have sat there all day just watching them make piece after piece. Couldn’t stay though because next on our agenda was wine tasting in Woodinville, WA. We hit two of our favorite wineries for some tasting fun, Facelli Winery & Columbia Winery. By the time we had tasted at both places we were all tired and headed back to the house to relax before dinner. After naps and relaxation we headed out to Chinook’s at the Fisherman’s Terminal for dinner. After a truly delicious and satisfying meal we headed back to the house and watched another movie, this time it was the John Water’s version of Hairspray which J had never seen.

Sunday dawned and found us headed out to the local used bookstore where we wandered around for a few hours. After that we went to the fish market and picked up some fresh Red Snapper for dinner and Bryan and J dropped me back at the house. They were headed for bargain shopping binge at Cross Dress for Less, I was so not in the mood to put up with that place on a Sunday. After they got back we grilled the fish and sat around drinking and talking until way too late.

I dropped J off at the train station this morning on my way to work, it was a great visit and we had a blast this weekend. Not slowing down much next weekend with our dear friends P&B coming for dinner on Saturday and an afternoon of cards planned for Sunday with T- bone & Trixie. Every weekend in August is now spoken for and we’re starting to fill up in September as well, so get on our calendar quickly… Hope your weekend was as fun and fulfilling as ours was.

Ok, just how big was the 12-egg omelet? Four eggs is big enough. (Did I just say that?)

That’s QUITE a weekend. I have wanted to go to the blown glass museum for a while now but I here it’s good for the winter time. I don’t know why someone told me that?

I haven’t been to Beth’s Cafe since my very first visit to Seattle over 8 years ago.

I want one of those SLUT shirts. Figures!

I halfway expected to see a pic of you (or me, for that matter) on that t-shirt.

Howard ~ well I agree that bigger is usually better, but this is just an obscene amount of food
Sizzle ~ the museum was fun, don’t know why it would be better in the winter…
Lewis ~ you, yes… me, no – I’m as pure as the fucking undriven snow. I’m still a virgin and intend to stay that way until marriage

People visit Tacoma as “tourists”? Wow, things have changed in the last 20 years (since I’ve been gone).

Mike ~ I know, I was shocked, shocked I tell you!
