Yanni’s – a restaurant review

Posted by Chris on 9 June, 2008

After a truly enjoyable afternoon spent in a dark theater with four of my favorite ladies (Carrie, Miranda, Samantha & Charlotte), Bryan, Trixie and I were hungry and wanted to meet up with T-bone for dinner (she skipped the movie for some strange reason). Nettie and Whipp had clued us in to Yanni’s Greek Restaurant on Greenwood, so always game for a new place we headed for Greenwood Ave and a table of Greek food.

Just when you might wonder what it takes to get a good review on this blog here it is, a good restaurant review. We adored Yanni’s from the time we walked in until the moment we left and we will be back, especially considering it’s walking distance from where Bryan and I shack up. Small inside it felt more cozy than crowded. I think this has to do with the spacing of the tables more than anything, you are able to converse with the people at your table without having to hear most of the conversations going on around you.

The first thing we look at on any menu is the drink selection, let me tell you Yanni’s has some options. Above and beyond your typical bar menu this list made our table of serious drinkers seriously happy. We just had to sample several of the offerings. The rest of the menu is huge which can be a good thing or a bad thing really. On one hand you have a lot to choose from, but on the other hand it makes deciding between things that sound good very difficult. Everything we ordered was delicious and I’m not even going to attempt the spellings on any of them – hah!

Our waitress was a hoot, think My Big Fat Greek Wedding with a ton of personality. She was attentive and helpful with menu decisions. If you’re in the Greenlake area and need a place to eat, or you’re just looking for a good place for Greek food make a trip to Yanni’s Greek Restaurant!

My highest rating yet goes to this neighborhood delight, 4 out of 5 stars…

I thought Yanni’s was just OK when we went there, but that was, maybe, three years ago and at the time we were hooked on another Greek place so our judgement was probably clouded.

Brandon ~ I’ve only been to one other greek place in Seattle, Byzantian, up on Capital Hill and that was years ago. Didn’t like it enough to return and the big bonus for Yanni’s is we can walk to it. :)
