13 Queer Blogs You Should Be Reading

Posted by Chris on 5 June, 2008

June is upon us and that means several things around here, it’s my parent’s 41st anniversary month, it’s my 38th birthday month and it’s gay pride month. I’m pretty sure that the parades and parties and concerts and flowing alcohol are for the pride celebrations instead of for my birthday, but I can’t be 100% sure.

It’s Thursday once again and that can mean only one thing, it’s time for the Thursday 13 list. In honor of gay pride month I’m going to make all my lists this month queer themed. It’s not often that I can stick to a long term goal like that, so we’ll just have to wait and see how well that works out. We’re off to a rocking good start with this list however. I present to you for your reading pleasure 13 Queer blogs that you should be reading along with me.

If you want to join in on the fun and hilarity that is known only as the Thursday 13 meme you just need to create a list and then head over to the Thursday 13 site and post your link. Come on, it’s fun and all the cool kids are doing it…

In no particular order here they are (no nsfw links included, though a couple push the envelope):

  1. Puntabulous ~ good dorky fun. Watch out for Evil Bunny and enjoy.
  2. Jestertunes ~ the fool who observes your lives, sings his songs, spins his yarns, and hopefully entertains.
  3. Spirit of Saint Lewis ~ a former male model and just as witty and funny in person as he is on his blog
  4. Boy Grows Up ~ a blogger’s tale of recovery from religious fundamentalism and crystal meth
  5. Strange Relationship ~ a hot guy writes about hot guys and life
  6. Are You Sure You Want to Know? ~ a midwest gay guy’s snarky look at life
  7. Voenix Rising ~ insightful political commentary and woofy guys abound here
  8. Web Pen Blog ~ just as funny as you would expect the blog of a comedian to be
  9. Mangina Monologues ~ some of his posts have made me spit coffee on the monitor from laughing so hard
  10. Godless Liberal Homo ~ politics from a secular queer point of view, this is a good thing
  11. Just A Dude Talking About Life ~ a hunky man tells us about his gay life
  12. Shirley Heezgay! ~ champagne for the brain
  13. Mike Says ~ a look at a gay man’s life in Florida with snarky insights you should take to heart

By no means are these the only queer blogs you should be reading, these just happen to be 13 of my favorites. If you’re looking for more queer blogs check out my blogroll, it’s full of them and I wish I could have included them all. Cutting that list to just 13 was tough!

Happy Birthday! Thanks for visiting my blog!

And, who says the celebration is not for your special day? :)

  2. I bet cutting it down was hard. I know I couldn’t cut my favorite reads down to just 13.

I’ll have to check out some of these; they’re all new to me. The shame. The shame! I thought I was better read than that!

  3. Michelle said

“I’m going to make all my lists this month queer themed”

Wait… don’t you usually do that? It’s one of the reasons I always love your TT.

  8. “Champagne for the brain.” What blogger wouldn’t want to see his or her work described that way? What a compliment! I’ll have to check it out. (Thanks for visiting my TT)

  9. I’ll keep your list in mind for when I’m looking for new blogs to read. Happy TT.

oh my god, i’m afraid you’ve built it up a bit too much….male model? my dear, that was when i was young, hung, and handsome. a bitch of alot of years ago. and as for witty? i believe it would be more accurately described as smartass 101.

  12. Chris said

Pussreboots ~ hope you find something interesting amongst them
Lewis ~ my dear I haven’t built anything up you’re still handsome, maybe not so young anymore but it looks good on you trust me. As for the hung I wouldn’t know but from my own experience that doesn’t change over the years… or at least it hasn’t yet. Yes witty or smartassy whichever you prefer, either are highly attractive imho

  13. Robin said

    Happy birthday!

The religious fundamentalists here in Israel are trying to ban this year’s pride parade in Jerusalem. The more they fight it the more it makes me want to grab a flag and participate.

  14. cb said

And you called me snarky, you’re so sweet!

  16. Chris said

Robin ~ it’s funny that seems to be the reaction of most people to the religious fudamentalists
Cb ~ yes I’m sweet, now post more pix of you in that harness! (now how sweet am I? LOL)
Michael ~ thanks. Yes, snarky is a huge compliment in my mind…

  17. Mike said

The number 13 has always been my lucky number, thank you for that.

I’d like to take issue with your description, though. I’m a gay guy who happens to be HIV+. I haven’t “had AIDS” since the early days of my blog. And that is just a footnote to my blog, I like to think. ;)

You know I’m gonna be knocking on your door next time I’m “up home”, don’tcha?

  18. Joy Renee said
