Oh Google, how I love thee!

We have two open positions in the learning center and have been interviewing for several months. Apparently everyone that has interviewed has been either horribly over qualified (PhD) or horribly under qualified (illiterate). Not that I would know, the queers on the team (S & myself) have not been asked to interview any of the candidates so far. This is probably because the boss man doesn’t like any opinions that don’t agree with his own and the two of us are notorious for saying what we think whether he likes it or not. Another candidate was interviewed by the rest of the team yesterday and B came to me late in the afternoon to see if I had time to talk to the guy today. I had room on my calendar (I squeezed it in between napping and blogging) to talk to the guy so a meeting was set up with S & myself and the candidate for this afternoon.
Here’s where Google comes in. I googled the guys name and got nothing of notice, then I googled his email user name. BINGO !! I managed to pull up the guy’s Flickr photo stream and I saw some very interesting photos. Not only did I learn that he lives just down the street from me, but that he’s queer, he’s friends with a certain queer blogger from Seattle (recently transplanted to LA - our loss) that I read regularly and he has a raunchy sense of humor which means he’ll fit in here just fine.
I haven’t talked to him yet, but based on my initial research I’m recommending him for the position. Hell, he could be illiterate and I’d recommend him. I love the fact that the anti-gay manager is going to soon have three queers reporting to him out of the eight members of the team. Karma - she is a bitch ain’t she!
