What I’m actually doing during those long conference calls at work…

Already it’s Thursday, the day to celebrate the glorious number 13. Grab your favorite keyboard and create your own list don’t make me play with myself again this week. Then head over to the Thursday 13 site and enjoy the wit and charm of the other participants.
In my current position I find that I have to attend many conference calls during the average week. Yesterday I was working at home and when I wasn’t busy baking brownies, I was on two different calls. This got me to thinking about what I actually do during these calls. Am I the only one that does just about anything but pay attention?
- Surfing the internet for porn ~ duh what guy doesn’t do this?
- Playing Scrabulous ~ triple word score bingo baybee!
- Instant messaging with co-workers ~ nooooo, we not making fun of you honest
- Watching TV ~ daytime tv sucks
- Reading a magazine ~ not that kind, geez what kind of pervert do you think I am?
- Playing EverQuest II ~ I do crafting writs during calls
- Balancing my checkbook / paying bills ~ gotta do it sometime right?
- Watching porn dvds on my computer ~ I’m not a porn freak really!
- Surfing Monster for a new job ~ updated resume, who me?
- Catching up on emails ~ that way I can look extra efficient
- Catch up on my blog reader ~ well I do that all day so nothing new to see here
- Write blog posts ~ I hardly need an excuse to do that
- Google people I know ~ oh the things you can find on the internets

You sound like my husband when I call him at work…I can usually hear the keyboard clacking in the background, and there are brief pauses before he replies, during which I am sure he is trying to figure out what I just said.
My mom always busts me when I try it talking to her…perhaps I need to do more three way calls with Mom and my sister, so I could get away with multi-tasking…

I couldn’t come up with 13 things. Just one. Making brownies from a cardboard box.

I don’t ever really get to experience the productivity of conference calls, but if I ever do, I’ll keep your list handy so that I make the most of it

Julie ~ I always put them on mute so that they can’t hear the keyboard.
Lewis ~ smart ass!
Maggies Mind ~ productivity and conference calls are mutually exclusive I think

Man! I’ve got to get on board with Scrabulous. Everyone and their brother is playing it. Happy T13! Sounds like my husband when he’s working from home.

Now I know what the significant other is doing when he’s “working from home”! You let the cat out of the bag!! I hope you didn’t break a “man rule”!!
Great TT — hope the brownies were good — and thanks for visiting!

Joanne ~ I love Scrabulous
Crazy Daisy ~ thanks
Lara ~ I probably did break a man rule, I’m in big trouble, didn’t think about that

Back when I used to have to do conference calls I know I did everything except pay attention to what was being said on the call. Great list.

In case you haven’t discovered them, Redtube.com and Youporn.com are pretty good sites for #1 on your list. A lot of daytime TV does suck. If I happen to be home during the weekday, I find that ESPN, Turner Classic Movies, or TV Land usu. have something worth watching. If not, I’ll just pop in a DVD.

Malcom ~ I’ll have to try youporn, I’ve been to redtube and xtube…
