Prom is so different from twenty years ago…

Posted by Chris on 30 May, 2007

When we went to Portland a few weeks ago to visit our friends C&J it also happened to be Prom weekend. On Saturday we had dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s Harborside before we headed off to Darcelles. Since it was Prom weekend we got to see a lot of couples strolling along the river and dining at the restaurant. The guys all dressed up in their tuxes and the girls in their formal gowns looked so nice. However, three dresses stand out in my mind for less than positive reasons, unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the exact dresses on the internet, but I did come close with those that I’m posting.belt1.jpg

Dress #1 - is it a dress or is it a belt? The dress we saw was shorter with no fringe and hot pink to boot. I’m not sure she could/should sit down because it would have made a lovely belt if she did.

Dress #2 - is that your ass or did your dressmaker just run out of fabric? ass.jpgI’m all for showing off what you’ve got, but who wants to walk behind a teenage girl and see the crack of her ass? Just say no to ass cleavage!

slit.jpgDress #3 - omg did I just see what I thought I saw? Believe it or not the dress we saw was slit even higher than this one. As C and I walked towards the girl wearing this dress she stepped forward and her left leg came out the slit and we both saw her “naughty bits”. No she wasn’t wearing any panties, no I’m not sure she knew that she was flashing all of us on the sidewalk, but we got a view that should be reserved for her boyfriend and gynecologist only. Think she puts out? HAH!

Who are these girl’s mothers and why do they let their daughters leave the house looking like total sluts?

Prom dresses get scary some years. I have to agree with you about wondering how their mothers let them go out like that. Sometimes these girls are 14 years old!

Oh my gosh! Thats just horrible! I’m so thankful that my dd can barely stand spaghetti straps for being too revealing. I had to talk her into being able to wear it to prom because she couldnt’ wear a regular bra with it!
I would constantly be battling if I had a child who wanted to dress like a slut, because she wouldn’t be leaving my house!
